My name is Justine and I first began teaching at Omeida in December 2010. It has been a wonderful experience and I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far.
I am 26 years old and I was born on the little island of Malta. The reason I have spoken English my entire life is because it is one of our official languages.
Additionally, my mother is English. I obtained my TEFL certificate when I was 17 and began teaching soon after. Since then I have gained invaluable teaching experience in Malta, England, Switzerland and now here in China. I absolutely love being an English teacher and I have greatly appreciated each and every opportunity.
Over the years I have taught English to people of all ages and from all walks of life. Getting to know my students as individuals gives me a lot of pleasure and for this reason I tend to meet them a lot in my free time as well. Needless to say, I think of my students as my friends. I always strive to create a relaxed and friendly environment whilst I'm teaching so that ultimately my students feel at ease and don't hesitate to question me throughout the lesson. It is of utmost importance to me that my students find my lessons interesting and enjoyable.
Travelling and living abroad are the essence of my life. Some might say I am adventurous. Backpacking trips are always high on my agenda. I am always on the lookout for new experiences as well. I truly enjoy exploring and I have been on a number of cycling trips with my students here in Yangshuo. Hailing from an island I am certain that it comes as no surprise that swimming is also one of my hobbies. Other pastimes include eating out, walking in the countryside, parks, reading and watching documentaries. Music always seems to be playing in the background.
In my opinion, there is no correct method to learn English because we are all individuals and what works for one person might not work for another. However, I suggest finding an interesting way to learn. It is of utmost importance that one remains motivated. Such examples would include reading, watching films whilst making use of subtitles if necessary and listening to music. There are also plenty of online listening exercises which should be taken advantage of. Ultimately one must never lose contact with the English language.
I will end this self-introduction with my own philosophy of life.
" If you genuinely want to fulfill your dreams then you will always find a way to do so."
